High Commissioner meets the leader of the TNA

The British High Commissioner, Dr. Peter Hayes met with the leader of the TNA, Honourable R. Sampanthan on October 30th at the British High Commission.

The High Commissioner, Dr. Peter Hayes recently undertook a two-day familiarisation tour in the Puttalam district in the north western province. He met with a variety of officials, visited IDP camps in the area and discussed the humantarian situation faced by them.

Welcome to British High Commission, Colombo website. This site acts as an information centre and resource on the activities of the British High Commission in Colombo. Relations between Britain and Sri Lanka go back over many centuries.  Today, the bilateral ties cover many areas from political and development to commercial and education. Our work covers a wide range of issues and services, including for example, promoting trade between the UK and Sri Lanka, providing visas and passports, helping Britons in difficulty in Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner in Colombo is also accredited to the Republic of the Maldives.

British High Commission lends a hand to make a difference.

On 12 November the staff at the British High Commission in Colombo took time out of their busy schedules to lend a hand to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital. The staff of the High Commission in collaboration with the children’s charity COMFORTERS came out in full force to paint and clean one of the public areas of the hospital.

COMFORTERS was started by a group of friends who teamed up together to pool their contacts and resources in order to support the needy children hospitalised at the Children’s Ward at the Cancer Hospital, Maharagama.

COMFORTERS is a children’s cancer charity supported by the ISOBAR at the British High Commission.
