Children's Party at Westminster House (12/10/2009)
On 10 October British High Commissioner Dr Peter Hayes and his wife, Mrs Kirsty Hayes, hosted a children’s tea party at Westminster House to mark International Children’s Day. About 150 orphaned and disabled children came to the event and played games in the Westminster House gardens with the High Commissioner, his wife and their children.
The event was organised in collaboration with Hope for Children, an organisation working on behalf of handicapped, orphaned, poor and exploited children.
Elephant House, Lanka Canneries, Motha Ltd, Unilever, HSBC and the Cinnamon Grand kindly offered additional support to the event.
Commenting on the day Dr Peter Hayes said:
“Kirsty, my children and I have had a marvellous day opening up our home to such a happy and active group of children. I pay tribute to the fantastic job Hope for Children do in helping disadvantaged children enjoy a normal childhood. I’d like to say a big thank you to all our sponsors who provided food, toys and treats which helped make sure that the children had a great day out.”
