Press centre

The main aim of the Press and Public Affairs (PPA) section is to promote a positive image of the United Kingdom and its policies in Sri Lanka. We do this in a variety of ways, including the tried and tested means of press releases, publications, publicity materials, radio and TV interviews by various members of the High Commission. We deal with all enquiries from journalists as well as members of the general public.

We also arrange media interviews for visiting British Government Ministers and officials and distribute speeches made by British Ministers. The High Commissioner is happy to give interviews and briefings about the British Government and its policies or indeed about any event with which the British High Commission is involved.

The Press and Public Affairs Section also manages the Bilateral Fund and the Projects Officer. The High Commission website should be the first point for general enquiries. The website provides a wealth of information about services provided by the High Commission as well as links to a variety of other relevant information and organisations.

In collaboration with the British Council, the section also oversees the Chevening Scholarship Scheme.
