Vacancy Advertisement for the

TRADE & INVESTMENT  OFFICER

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Trade & Investment Officer in the Trade & Investment Team of the British High Commission. This post is offered on a six-month contract only and applicants must be available to commence work from 1st November.

 

Qualifications and Experience
At least two years experience working in a trade promotion /business development environment. Excellent customer service skills. A good understanding of international trade and investment issues. Fluent oral and written English to a minimum of A Level standard. Strong computer literacy with ability to undertake internet research and use MS Office. A degree or higher qualification in a business related subject. Good representational skills and confidence to deal with senior business people. Ability to use own initiative, be proactive and manage own workload. Good team player. Event management experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for research and information gathering for preparation of sector reports and market intelligence reports, monitoring progress of projects, organising visits programmes and trade missions. To support senior colleagues to provide advice and support for overseas companies as they seek to export or invest in Sri Lanka. This will include developing a positive working relationship with key Sri Lankan interlocutors to identify commercial opportunities and ensuring these are relayed to relevant overseas business interests. To respond to requests for market information from overseas companies. To provide local companies with source of supply information from the UK.

 

Salary
The starting salary will be around Rs. 62,984/= per month plus other benefits.
