Conflict Prevention and Bilateral Programme funding
The UK is committed to helping build a peaceful, prosperous and equitable Sri Lanka where the rights of all communities are respected and protected. Under the Conflict Prevention Programme the British High Commission focuses on supporting projects that underpin a transition to sustainable peace, improve human security and promote effective governance structures. We engage with a wide range of stakeholders including state institutions and civil society.
Conflict Prevention Pool:
The Conflict Prevention Pool (CPP) is a source of funding to support the UK government's aims for preventing and managing international conflict. The overall outcome the UK seeks is a global and regional reduction in conflict and its impact. The CPP supports projects that prevent, manage and resolve conflict and create the conditions required for effective state-building and economic development. The Pool is managed jointly by DFID, FCO and MOD to ensure a coherent response to conflict prevention.
Bilateral Programme Fund:
The Bilateral Programme Fund (BPF) supports projects and visits that enhances the UK's relationship with Sri Lanka and the Maldives. During 2008/09 the main focus was projects that chiefly supported democratic reform in the Maldives and advocated for action on climate change internationally and locally.
